Polaroid’s Sustainable Choice collection started in 2021 by making their optical glasses more sustainable thanks to the use of bio-based materials and recycled materials.
ACETATE RENEW - A special material which partially includes at least 43% bio-based content obtained from cellulose derived from wood pulp, and at least 27% certified* recycled content made out of hard-to-recycle mixed plastic waste diverted from the environment. BIO POLYAMIDE - It’s a bio-based plastic made from over 45% of material derived from renewable resources: specifically castor oil. Using bio-based polyamide instead of traditional polyamide which derived from petroleum, helps to limits the extraction of petroleum and the related emissions. RECYCLED METAL - Polaroid’s sustainable styles also features recycled metal. The use of recycled metal allows to remove metal waste from the environment while limiting air pollution derived from the extraction and mining of new virgin metal. The recycled metal contains at least 70% certified recycled content. RECYCLED POLYCARBONATE - This special recycled plastic is made with at least 95% certified recycled content made out plastic waste that otherwise would be disposed in landfills and on the environment. TRITAN™️ RENEW - Is a high-performance BPA-free plastic made with 50% certified recycled
content made out of hard-to-recycle mixed plastic waste diverted from
the environment, thanks to a revolutionary technology that transforms
waste into durable and safe plastic.
